At the opening of 2026 Taipei AMPA today (April 14), TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. responded to the event theme, “Empower Every Move,” by showcasing its electric mobility powertrain solutions. At the exhibition, TECO officially debuted its T Power
Pro 400kW Hair-Pin Oil-Cooled Direct-Drive Motor for the first time, while also presenting a high-payload commercial UAV powertrain system capable of carrying payloads of up to 150 kilograms. These exhibits underscore TECO’s continued commitment to deepening
its presence in electric mobility powertrain solutions and actively expanding into the electric bus as well as commercial and agricultural drone markets.
TECO President Fei-Yuan Kao stated that as global transportation continues to move toward electrification, market demand for powertrain systems is no longer limited to individual performance metrics, but increasingly focuses on the ability to provide integrated
total solutions. Leveraging its strengths in electromechanical integration and system development, TECO aims to help customers accelerate their entry into the electric mobility market and capture the next wave of growth opportunities.
Targeting Electric Bus Upgrade Demand with Taiwan Debut of the T Power Pro 400kW Hair-Pin Oil-Cooled Direct-Drive Motor
TECO’s first-ever launch in Taiwan of the T Power Pro 400kW Hair-Pin Oil-Cooled Direct-Drive Motor is expected to help electric bus manufacturers accelerate vehicle model upgrades and enhance overall market competitiveness. TECO revealed that a well-known domestic electric bus maker has already expressed demand for the product, which may potentially be applied to 12-meter intercity electric buses in the future.
Designed primarily for the 7- to 12-meter electric bus segment under 18.5 tons, the motor adopts a “one platform, multiple applications” concept, enabling a single model to meet the needs of both intercity and urban electric buses. It is capable of addressing diverse operating requirements, including frequent stop-and-go driving, high-speed cruising, and long uphill routes. Even under high-load conditions, the motor maintains stable output, delivering up to 400kW of power, 3,600Nm of torque, and 3,200rpm, significantly reducing development and manufacturing complexity.
In addition, TECO employs a permanent magnet motor design integrated with third-generation hair-pin winding technology and oil-cooling thermal management, further enhancing slot fill rate and heat dissipation efficiency. This results in a 25% increase in
power density, a 15% reduction in weight, and a 32% improvement in cooling efficiency, leading to a significant overall performance upgrade.
High-Payload Commercial UAV Powertrain Systems Create New Opportunities in Aerial Mobility
In recent years, TECO has actively expanded its footprint in the electrified mobility market. In addition to electric bus powertrain systems, the company has invested in establishing a UAV powertrain production line at its Zhongli plant in Taiwan.
Currently, TECO is focusing on high-payload commercial and agricultural UAV powertrain systems, with applications spanning a wide range of use cases, including firefighting and disaster relief, solar panel cleaning, and agricultural spraying operations.
The high-payload unmanned aerial vehicle powertrain solution on display at the exhibition adopts the T Power Air 12.5kW hair-pin motor, which delivers a maximum thrust of 76.5 kilograms per shaft and has already been successfully applied in agricultural drones.
TECO plans to launch additional high-payload commercial drone hair-pin motors and high-power electronic speed controllers (ESCs) later this year, further extending its coverage of the 10–100kg agricultural drone and Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) application
markets. To further enhance its visibility in North America, TECO is also scheduled to participate in XPONENTIAL, the world’s largest and most authoritative UAV trade show in the United States, this May together with its U.S. subsidiary, TECO-Westinghouse,
to actively pursue collaboration opportunities with drone manufacturers and expand new aerial mobility business opportunities.
Integrated e-Axle Solutions Advance TECO’s Global Commercial Vehicle Strategy
TECO also unveiled in Taiwan for the first time its integrated e-Axle solution, jointly developed with a European axle manufacturer. According to TECO, the solution has already attracted interest from automakers in Taiwan, Europe, and Mexico for adoption in new vehicle models. Prototype vehicles are expected to be provided to customers in the second half of this year, further advancing commercial cooperation and demonstrating TECO’s visibility and competitiveness in the commercial vehicle powertrain market.
TECO’s integrated e-Axle solution offers two modular configurations — parallel-shaft and wheel-side drive — to accommodate different chassis designs. It supports a wide range of vehicle applications, including high-floor and low-floor buses, with a maximum
output power of 250kW and peak torque exceeding 580Nm, meeting diverse commercial vehicle requirements. The solution can also be extended to electric bus applications built on the same platform, helping bus manufacturers reduce development costs and accelerate
market penetration.
In addition, to further align with international standards and connect with the global commercial EV market, TECO is actively pursuing certifications related to road vehicle functional safety processes and automotive cybersecurity processes, which are expected
to further strengthen its global business opportunities.
Deepening Presence in the Global Mobility Powertrain Market and Accelerating Electrification Growth
Backed by 70 years of deep electromechanical expertise, TECO continues to expand its presence in the electric mobility powertrain market. The company has established a leading position in Taiwan’s electric bus market, while also successfully entering overseas
markets including Japan, Mexico, and India, and actively developing opportunities in North America and Europe.
TECO stated that it will continue to leverage its strengths in powertrain system integration to advance the electrification and low-carbon transformation of transportation, responding to the evolving needs of the global transport industry with more comprehensive solution offerings.
