Commercial Vehicles, Drones, and Electric Vessels: TECO Builds a Comprehensive Electric Vehicle Ecosystem

2025/11/14

Key Momentum Amidst the Net-Zero Wave: TECO Strategic Layout for All-Electric Vehicles

In response to the global trends of net-zero carbon emissions and vehicle electrification, TECO Electric & Machinery is leveraging its nearly 70 years of motor expertise to develop power systems for electric vehicles. These solutions encompass commercial vehicles, drones, and electric vessels, creating green transportation solutions across land, sea, and air, and positioning the company as a pivotal system integrator driving low-carbon transformation.

TECO leverages its flat-wire oil-cooled motor technology to create high-efficiency e-Axle powertrain systems. By strategically positioning its land, sea, and air vehicle solutions within the European market, the company is advancing toward becoming a global core provider for green transportation.

Third-Generation Flat-Wire Oil-Cooled Motors: Achieving "Compact Size, Massive Power"

TECO’s core competitiveness stems from its third-generation flat-wire oil-cooled motor technology. Compared to the approximately 80% slot fill factor of traditional round-wire motors, flat-wire winding technology can exceed 95%. This breakthrough enhances power density and heat dissipation efficiency while reducing material usage, making the motors significantly more lightweight.

Combined with a high-efficiency oil-cooling design, this technology achieves an energy conversion efficiency of 97.5% and increases power density by more than fourfold. Balancing high performance with a long lifespan, it is specifically designed for electric vehicle applications that demand extreme stability and efficiency.

Commercial Vehicles × Drones × Electric Vessels: Building a Comprehensive EV Ecosystem

In the commercial vehicle sector, TECO offers both direct-drive and e-Axle powertrain systems. By integrating flat-wire oil-cooled motors with SiC (Silicon Carbide) drivers, TECO helps electric buses and trucks achieve smaller, lighter, and more efficient power configurations.

For drone applications, TECO’s motors provide a high power-to-weight ratio, supporting effective payloads of 100 to 150 kg. This expands commercial use cases in agriculture, logistics, and the low-altitude economy. Simultaneously, the technology extends to electric vessels, completing an electrification strategy that spans multiple vehicle platforms.

Lan Yi-Chung noted that TECO utilizes its third-generation flat-wire oil-cooled motors to create high-efficiency electric drive systems, achieving "compact size and massive power" across land, sea, and air platforms to drive the green transportation transition.

Deepening Presence in Europe and India: Accelerating Global Implementation

As European carbon emission regulations tighten, TECO has strategically established manufacturing bases in Taiwan and Mainland China, and completed its Indian EV powertrain facility in 2025. This aligns with the "localized production" trend, accelerating expansion into European, American, and Indian markets.

In 2025, TECO partnered with the leading Italian axle manufacturer BRIST at the Busworld exhibition to debut an integrated e-Axle solution. This design allows for a completely flat electric bus chassis, increasing battery capacity and range. This is no longer a "fuel-to-electric conversion" but a brand-new powertrain system purpose-built for electric commercial vehicles.

From Motor Manufacturer to Key Driver of Green Mobility

By simultaneously advancing e-Axle and charging solutions, TECO is evolving into a pivotal player in the global EV ecosystem. Whether in commercial vehicles, drones, or electric vessels, TECO uses its high-efficiency powertrain systems as a core to drive the green mobility transformation, ensuring energy is used more efficiently.
