TECO Will Produce e-Bus Powertrain for the Indian Market With China Steel Products
TECO Electric & Machinery has decided
to employ China Steel’s self-adherent coated magnetic steel in producing
e-vehicle powertrain for the order from the Indian market, for which it has
signed letter of intent for cooperation calling for mass production and
delivery in the first quarter 2025.
Kao Fei-Yuan, president of TECO’s Green
Mechatronic Solution business group, pointed out that the cooperation will
contribute to the stabilization of product quality, facilitating increase of
share in India’s e-vehicle powertrain market.
The self-adherent coated magnetic steel
will be used for e-vehicle powertrain’s self-adherent steel core. China Steel
expressed that it will help its Indian subsidiary develop high-performance
motor self-adherent magnetic steel for supplying TECO, thereby forming a
partnership in tapping India’s expanding e-business market. TECO is Taiwan’s
first qualified DMIT motor supplier, following local e-bus certification in
March 2022.
In fact, there has existed a long-term
partnership between the two parties, which jointly completed a government-sponsored
"motor R&D project" in 2007 and set up a united laboratory in
2013, aiming to tap the domestic and overseas e-vehicle market. On the solid
foundation, both will be dedicated to the enhancement of Taiwanese motor's
international competitiveness and development high-performance green products,
such as high-speed direct-drive motor and hydrogen-energy compressor motor,
thereby contributing to Taiwan's industrial sustainability and upgrading.
