TECO Wins Bid on Airport 3rd-Terminal Mechatronic Project at NT$12.7 B.

2021/08/30

TECO team has won out in the bidding on the mechatronic engineering project of Taoyuan Airport's third terminal at NT$12.7 billion, according to the outcome publicized on Aug. 30. Sophia Chiu, chairman of TECO Electric & Machinery, attributed the victory to the company's technological strength and abundant experience, saying it will complete the project on time at high quality.

TECO teams up with Shihlin Electric & Engineering Corp. and Pai Chung Engineering Co., Ltd. in winning the project, following its previous success in bidding for the third terminal's energy center and substation projects. The latest victory will facilitate the integration and testing of the interface for the two batches of projects, which is conducive to the operation and maintenance of the new terminal. With a total floor space of 385,000 square meters, the new terminal can accommodate 20 million passengers a year. The latest project, which covers the mechatronic facilities of the main building and the boarding halls on the two sides, will break ground in Oct. 2021 and is scheduled for inauguration in 2026.

The victory underscores acknowledgement by members of the project's screening committee of TECO's expertise in air conditioning, high-efficiency motor, switchboard, and electricity bus, among others, which will be applied in the two batches of projects. TECO joined hands with Wei Chuan Construction Co., Ltd., in winning the previous bid on the terminal's energy center and substations at NT$6.2 billion in 2019.

The new business will inject fresh momentum to TECO revenue growth, on top of such business as onshore substations for offshore wind farms and IDC (Internet data center) facilities. Following a restructuring earlier this year, TECO now consists of three major business groups, namely mechatronic system and automation business group, air conditioning and smart life business group, and smart energy business group.
