TECO a Wellbeing Enterprise in the Eyes of Salaried Workers

TECO Electric & Machinery is one of top 20 local enterprises in the field of precision machinery most attractive to local salaried works, thanks to its complete fringe benefits, according to a survey of near 9,000 salaried workers conducted by a major job bank. 


Upon reception of the award for the "wellbeing enterprises," Huang Chun-chieh, director of the company's human resources center, attributed the honor to the company's longstanding effort in forging a workplace giving employees a sense of security and happiness, which has also won the company such honors as "Wellbeing Enterprise Award" of Taipei City and "Wellbeing Enterprise With Gender Equality Award" of Taoyan City.


For instance, the company has built in-house restaurants for employees, taking advantage of the resources of the group's affiliated dining businesses. Breastfeeding rooms are available for new working mothers, with their quality being certified by the Department of Health, Taipei City Government. The company also offers employees a flexible office hours, leaves better than legal requirement, including paid leave for sickness, personal affairs, and rehabilitation, and paid leave for public services. Sophia Chiu, chairman, has been encouraging employees to engage in public services via the paid-leave system, so that they can take part in the company's effort in fulfilling social responsibilities and seeking sustainable development . 


To take good care of employees' families, TECO provides scholarship to their children, under the auspices of the EAP (employee assistance programs) platform, which covers the three aspects of health promotion, family care, and daily-life and social improvement. Other activities under the platform include regular family days for employees, annual athletic meeting, basket ball game, tennis-ball game, badminton game, and public-service events. The athletic meeting this year doubled as a public-service event, in which underprivileged children were invited to have fun with employees. 


Sophia Chiu pointed out that 63 years after its founding, TECO has not only become a technology-intensive international enterprise but is marching vigorously towards the vision of "enterprise with social and daily-life mission," dedicated to the creation of a friendly workplace and culture, in the hope of attracting excellent talents and providing giveback to the society.
