TECO Makes Its Debut at Hon Hai Tech Day Showcasing Modular Data Centers, E- Axles for EV Powertrain, and Supporting the “TEEMA Science Park” Initiative
Following its strategic alliance with Hon Hai Technology Group (“Foxconn”) (2317) through an equity swap, TECO Electric & Machinery Co. (1504) is participating in Hon Hai Tech Day for the first time this year. At the event, TECO is exhibiting its highly anticipated Modular Data Center (MDC) solution, as well as the latest EV powertrain products—the Central E-Axle and the third-generation oil-cooled hair-pin motor, presented as part of its MIH Consortium membership.
In line with TEEMA Chairman Young Liu’s global layout initiative for the “TEEMA Science Park,” TECO is also showcasing smart and energy-efficient solutions essential for new factory construction, integrating the capabilities of its three major business divisions. These solutions aim to help Taiwanese enterprises build sustainable production bases around the world.
Modular Data Center: Highly Flexible and Reliable AI Infrastructure
As digital transformation and cloud computing demand continue to surge, TECO demonstrates its leading capabilities in Modular Data Center (MDC) construction. Compared to traditional data centers that typically require 18–24 months to build, the modular architecture shortens the timeline to 12–18 months, significantly accelerating deployment and resource efficiency, enabling enterprises to rapidly scale cloud applications and digital upgrades.
The power module integrates critical equipment including transformers, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, busways, diesel generator sets, UPS systems, and lithium-ion batteries to ensure stable power supply and robust backup. The cooling module incorporates chillers, cooling towers, and pumps to deliver efficient thermal management.
TECO’s MDC solution can be customized to various site conditions and reliability needs, providing a highly fault-tolerant design that complies with Tier 3 or Tier 4 data center architecture standards.
Advancing Electrification: High-Efficiency Technologies Driving the Future of Mobility
In the electric vehicle sector, TECO presents three flagship innovations that highlight its leadership in high-efficiency powertrain systems: the Central-mounted e-axle, SiC high-power drive, and third-generation hairpin oil-cooled motor.
The central-mounted e-axle is designed specifically for 6-to-8-meter mid-buses and commercial vehicles under 11 tons. Its lightweight structure, which integrates the motor and axle, enables a more flexible chassis and a more concise layout. The design improves energy efficiency and extends driving range by 5–10%, while also reducing maintenance costs. It has already been successfully integrated into multiple mid-bus platforms and has passed third-party certification, providing a reliable solution for urban electric public transportation.
The SiC high-power drive uses silicon carbide (SiC) power modules, delivering both high efficiency and low power loss. It provides a maximum output power of 360 kW and a peak current of 650 Arms, while weighing only 19 kg. Compared with mainstream products, it achieves more than a 30% reduction in weight, leads its class in peak current, and reaches up to 99% efficiency. With an IP67 protection rating, it is capable of withstanding harsh operating conditions. The drive has already been successfully adopted in electric bus and heavy-duty vehicle platforms and has passed validation by domestic and international OEMs as well as third-party organizations.
The third-generation oil-cooled hairpin motor technology, developed in-house by EVK—TECO’s acquired subsidiary—offers an energy density three to four times higher than that of traditional coil motors, while reducing volume by over 30% and achieving an efficiency exceeding 97.5%. Its direct oil-cooling technology removes heat directly from the windings, boosting the motor’s continuous output power by 50% to 100% compared with conventional water-cooled casing motors, and delivering cooling performance several times higher than air-cooling. Compared with competing products, this technology leads in slot-fill rate and thermal performance while reducing mass-production costs by 15–20%. It has already been adopted in electric bus applications and European e-axle projects.
Collaborating on the “TEEMA Science Park” Initiative
As a core member of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA), TECO supports the association’s initiative to establish Taiwan-featured industrial bases in key markets. TECO offers comprehensive system integration and development expertise, covering plant MEP engineering and equipment, smart Energy Management Systems (EMS), customized energy-saving diagnostics, as well as energy storage and data center construction for industrial parks.
TECO’s smart Energy Management System (EMS) can connect to central monitoring platforms used by industrial parks and tenant manufacturers to track electricity consumption, carbon emissions, and water usage. By integrating machine learning technologies, the EMS provides load forecasting and automated control for HVAC systems, air compressors, power equipment, and lighting systems. This enables intelligent dispatch functions such as demand forecasting, multi-unit load shifting, and predictive maintenance.
In terms of green power and energy storage required for smart industrial parks, the EMS can perform generation forecasting, monitoring, and green-energy-priority dispatching strategies, while using energy storage systems to shave peak loads and fill valleys. For HVAC systems—which are typically the most power-consuming equipment in factories—TECO adopts eco-friendly refrigerants (GWP < 1) and applies AI-enabled energy management systems to monitor and automatically adjust equipment. This ensures that chiller and cooling systems operate in an optimized mode, improving overall energy efficiency.
TECO’s Commitment to a Smart and Sustainable Future
TECO Group Chairman Morris Li noted that Hon Hai (Foxconn) and TECO share a commitment to innovation and green transformation. This year’s Hon Hai Tech Day highlights TECO’s progress in electrification, intelligence, and green energy. TECO will continue strengthening its strategic alliance with Hon Hai to advance innovative and sustainable smart solutions.
