TECO’s Bionic Robot Joint Motor Module (M1-140) Wins Taiwan Excellence Gold Award

TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. has been honored with the Taiwan Excellence Gold Award at the 34th Taiwan Excellence Awards for its Bionic Robot Joint Motor Module (M1-140). Designed for next-generation robotics, the M1-140 demonstrates TECO’s engineering leadership in high-performance robotic joints and reflects strong market demand for compact, precision-integrated motion modules. Chief Technology Officer Da-Jeng Yao, who led the development team, noted that TECO’s robotic joint motor modules support a broad range of applications, including industrial inspection, smart logistics, firefighting and rescue, quadruped robots, and humanoid robotics. Featuring strong torque output, precise motion control, and reliable long-duration performance, the modules play an important role in advancing industrial automation and smart manufacturing.

The TECO M1-140 robot joint module embodies innovation and high added value, aligning with TECO’s “INNOVALUE” spirit. Its all-in-one architecture integrates the motor, reducer, and driver into a single module—streamlining structure, reducing assembly complexity, and enhancing overall system stability and efficiency. The lightweight magnesium-lithium alloy frame, combined with a high-efficiency outer-rotor torque motor, delivers high torque density, strong efficiency, and excellent thermal performance. This allows the M1-140 to maintain stable output during extended operation, addressing common issues found in traditional joint modules such as overheating and insufficient durability. Multiphysics simulation was incorporated during development to validate mechanical, thermal, and electrical performance integration, ensuring overall quality and reliability.

With its high level of integration and modular design advantages, the M1-140 attracted wide industry attention when showcased at this year’s Taipei International Automation Exhibition. TECO has already introduced joint modules designed for humanoid robot hip joints and rotary joints for quadruped robots. According to Da-Jeng Yao, TECO will continue forming alliances with suppliers of sensors, linear actuators, and semiconductor components to jointly develop the six major joint modules required for humanoid robots, including shoulder, knee, and wrist joints. TECO also plans to further deepen collaboration with reducer, bearing, and related supply-chain partners to establish a complete domestic joint module ecosystem—laying a strong foundation for the humanoid robotics industry and becoming a key driving force for intelligent automation.

In addition to receiving the Taiwan Excellence Gold Award, TECO was also recognized for six other innovative technologies and products spanning electric mobility, industrial drive control, high-efficiency motors, and intelligent HVAC solutions. Award-winning products include: Direct Drive Electric Motor for Mid-Bus Application, High-Performance Communication General-Purpose AC Servo System, Next-Gen NA Super Premium Efficiency Motors, Next-Generation IE5 Slim-Type Permanent Magnet Axial Flux Motor, Axial Magnetic Coupling Seal-less Centrifugal Pump, and the AI Smart Energy Saving Magnetic Chiller. These achievements demonstrate TECO’s ongoing commitment to advancing core technologies, driving product innovation, and delivering practical applications. These achievements once again reinforce TECO’s vision of “becoming the key driver in realizing global electrification, intelligence, and green energy.”
