The 1950s marked the dawn of Taiwan’s industrialization, amid a world of political turmoil and economic hardship.
1956 In the summer of 1956, the company’s five founders, Lin Ho-Yin, Key Lin Bo-Shih, Chien Sui-Mu, Sun Bing-Huei, and Lin Chang-Cheng, started TECO Electric and Machinery Co., Ltd. with three desks and used machinery in a suburb of Taipei City making electrical motors, the basic component of industrial equipment.
1958 TECO set up the first apprentice training program in 1958, providing technical training on electrical and mechanical machinery. This program was the first internal training program created by a private enterprise in Taiwan. With few exceptions, the graduates of these programs all later became the front line managers of TECO. The apprentice training program was the start of TECO’s emphasis on management, systems and talent acquisition.
