by Mina, TECO PR ¡@¡@Following the opening of a new production base in Qingdao earlier this year, the TECO Group held a foundation-laying ceremony on September 9 for a new LCD TV plant in the Huoju Industrial Area of Xiamen, Fujian Province.  ¡@¡@Around 200 VIPs joined the ceremony, including TECO Group Chairman Theodore Huang and Chairman C.K. Liu from Taiwan. Leading officials of the Xiamen City Government, among them City Council Secretary He Lifeng, Secretary General Xu Mou, and Deputy Mayor Ye Chonggeng, were also present at the ceremony to welcome TECO´s investment.  A Festive Mood ¡@¡@The ceremony opened with a cheerleader performance. Chairman Liu led the TECO delegation, which included New Business Development Center Executive George Lin, as well as the presidents of TECO´s various affiliated enterprises in China, such as President Yang Ching-liang of Wuxi TECO Electric & Machinery, President Chin Ming-fu of Jiangxi TECO Electric & Machinery, and President Chuang Yung-yan of Asia Innovative Technology Co. The turnout demonstrated the team spirit in TECO´s Chinese operations and announced the formal establishment of Asia Innovative Technology Co., Ltd (Xiamen)´s new plant with a rousing cheer.  ¡@¡@The new plant will cover an area of about 154,000 square meters when it is completed in August 2008. It will employ some 1,000 workers and focus on LCD TV assembly, with an anticipated annual production capacity in the first phase is 960,000 units. About 20% of the output will be sold domestically, and the remainder will be exported to such markets as Europe, the U.S., Australia and the Middle East.  Global Deployment ¡@¡@TECO Group Chairman C.K. Liu noted that Asia Innovative Technology Co., Ltd is an important model project in TECO´s globalization strategy under the Seven Star Plan, announcing TECO´s high ambitions in the LCD TV market. Since celebrating its 50th anniversary last year, TECO has been aggressively globalizing its operations. One of the group´s focal development areas is China, where TECO has production and sales bases in Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Dongguan, Nanchang, and Qingdao, including facilities for manufacturing heavy electrical, home appliance, electronic and communication products.  ¡@¡@In the LCD TV segment, TECO has developed comprehensive production capability and a solid brand position in the domestic and overseas markets. The company expects to further improve its position in this market with the opening of the new plant at Asia Innovative Technology Co., Ltd.
